Google It.

Google it. Twenty years ago it might have been something naughty. Today most everyone knows it means to search the internet for the answer. How did Google’s search engine become the Kleenex or Xerox for the computer industry? Looking back just a few years we had Yahoo, Bing, and who could forget AOL as our search engines. Why did Google take over as the standard for looking up everything? As an IT person since 1981 I would have to say it’s the ease of operation as well as the clean look of their home page that has propelled it to become the number 1 search engine. Search queries are simple to read and it looks the same whether you use any of the internet browsers. When using a smart phone to search the internet the same familiar Google page comes up. Another popular belief is that it is faster too. Most results come up in less than one second. Internet Explorer was the standard internet browser of choice for all PC users just a few years ago. Today Google Chrome has taken over too. So the next time you need to look something up on the internet just Google it.

Computer pop ups while online “You need to call ..” DON’T FALL FOR IT

Are you getting a random pop up on your computer screen asking you to call a phone number so they can fix your computer? This is not limited to Microsoft Operating Systems. Apple users are also experiencing this scam. Fake virus warnings have plagued the computer industry for years but never before have we seen such a rampant attempt to steal money from computer users. Once the pop up hits you have to assume your computer is infected with an adware or possible unwanted program.  The internet browser on your computer most likely has a malicious add on extension which needs to be removed. These extensions usually are invited in when downloading free software. Many times free games, video recording or streaming videos are tied to malicious browser extensions. The pop up makes a bogus claim that for a nominal fee they will remove the massive amount of computer infections from your computer. Scare tactics stating that your infected often include colorful images or multiple infections which are not actually infections at all. With the help of many sources we have compiled a list of just a few of the bogus infections they list. hxxp://www.1.pc8.us/ hxxp://supportpcclean.com/pc22/index8.php?domain=www.youporn.com&sxid=ucb74f334386 hxxp://hpsafe.isupportcorp.com/ hxxps://instanttechexpert.com/7945/hp_computer_support.html hxxp://computertechsupport.us/new/Norton hxxp://www.fix100.com/8155036/mar/norton-support.html hxxp://techieschoice.com/l2/support-for-norton.php hxxp://www.fix100.com/ hxxp://securitylog.systems/50/index2p.php?sxid=4eryag334430 hxxp://www.antivirus-help.com/norton-help-and-support.php hxxp://91support.com/Symantec-Support.html hxxp://allprosafe.com/support-for-malwarebytes.php hxxp://antivirus.igennie.net/malwarebytes/support.html hxxp://asustechsupport247.com hxxp://browserssupport.com hxxp://cinfoways.co.in/techsupport/support-for-malwarebytes.html hxxp://dbstechy.co.uk hxxp://delwyn.us/MALWAREBYTES-Support.html hxxp://drpc247.com/malwarebytes-antivirus.php hxxp://fingertipsupport.com hxxp://fixforworldservices.com/privacy.html hxxp://fixnow.us hxxp://fixyoursoftware.com hxxp://fluxifi.co.uk hxxp://fluxifi.net/support-for-epson-printer.php hxxp://gatewaytechsupport.co hxxp://goliveitsolutions.com/MALWAREBYTES-Support.html hxxp://googlechromesupportnow.com/setting-up-secure-email-in-outlook-2007/ hxxp://goshakha.com/support_malwarebytes.aspx hxxp://gowyn.com/technologies.aspx hxxp://gts24x7.com hxxp://healthcareassociates.us hxxp://iappgeek.com/MAC-Support.html hxxp://install-antivirus.com/Malwarebytes

VERIZON EMAIL MOVING TO AOL

Verizon is moving its email to AOL. Don't disregard the notification when you receive it. As per Verizon you will have 30 days to comply with the migration to AOL. "What will happen if I decide to take no action to move my verizon.net email?" If you do not take action to move your verizon.net email in the 30 day period after your notification, you will no longer be able to send or receive email using your verizon.net email address. In addition, you will lose access to your current contacts, calendar(s) and email. After 90 days of inactivity, Verizon will delete your account. Doing so helps Verizon reduce their server storage needs and electrical consumption. https://help.aol.com/articles/verizon-move-to-aol-mail-faq
